Book Launch Webinar Recording: Religion and Gender Equality around the Baltic Sea

On 21 March 2025, a captivating webinar was held to mark the launch of the newly published book Religion and Gender Equality around the Baltic Sea: Ideologies, Policies, and Private Lives (Routledge, 2025). Edited by Milda Ališauskienė, Eglė Aleknaitė, and Marianne Bjelland Kartzow, the book aims to rethink the intersections of gender and religion, as well as the secular and religious aspects, in implementing and challenging gender equality at individual, institutional, and societal levels in the Baltic Sea Region.

Organized by the IAHR Women Scholars Network, the event brought together scholars who contributed to the volume. Marianne Bjelland Kartzow (University of Oslo, Norway), Anne Kull (University of Tartu, Estonia), Ilva Skulte (University of Latvia, Latvia), and Gintarė Pocė (Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania) discussed their contributions, shedding light on the complex ways in which religion intersects with gender equality in their respective countries. Milda Ališauskienė (Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania) and Amy Allocco (Elon University, USA) moderated the discussion, which guided the conversation through the book’s key themes.

The webinar recording is now available for those who missed the live event. This session provides an insightful opportunity to hear from scholars in gender and religious studies, offering a deeper understanding of the role of religion in shaping gender policies in the Baltic sea region.
